My daily soap serial:-
Now a day’s soap and serials are the best way towards indoor entertainment. Almost every house wife after spending her time in doing various household chores entertains herself seeing these serials. And it’s not just the housewives who love to see these serials, male house members and even young generation also love to entertain themselves watching daily soaps and serials. These soaps and serials have therefore emerged as a very popular way of entertainment. For example walking on roads or traveling in a bus you might hear few people discussing about such serials. Now a day’s reality shows are popular like Indian idol, dance India dance, boogie woogie, est. such serials have helped a lot bringing out talent from the most unexpected corners or middle or lower class societies which might gave been hidden forever unless given a chance, and these are the stages where they are given a chance to prove themselves. I have been noticing that now a day’s serials are basing their stories on superstitions. This aspect about soaps and serials has not been causing a very good influence. It shows that as much as these soaps and serials are entertaining they are not very real. Some people get attached and attracted to these serials that they will even miss their meal time to watch them. And some people are so crazily attracted to these soaps and serials that they get addicted to them watching them daily non stop.
Moral of the story: - soaps and serials are very entertaining but we shouldn’t be addicted to it.

A LOOK INTO IIT,KGP(KGP STANDS 4 KHARAGPUR) Namaste folks!!!! I would like to give you a glimpse of iit,kgp inside and outside. From the outside the hostels seem to give you a floral view of an excellent, beautiful and maintained building. But the story begins when you enter these buildings. The 1st year students are definitely treated better and the rooms allotted to them are good. But the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year are allotted rooms in very old buildings. The rooms there are smelly, musty and very old. The students who have been allotted single rooms are comparatively in a better condition than those who are sharing it with other roommates. I have added a video of R.K. Hall. Also I have added a video of the campus area. I.I.T. campus is definitely vast and beautiful, no doubt. But you will get a heart attack when you get to peep into one of the rooms. The video of the room I have added is the most clean room around. The mess and its yucky food:- The food that is provided in the mess is very bad and students have been lodging complaints upon complaints but no one seems to bother about it. Medical facilities:- All you readers must be well known about the recent case of a student dying due to inadequate medical facilities in IIT, kgp. Let me tell you what happened in brief. The boy was a 3rd year student named, Rohit Kumar. He was sick and was returning from the campus hospital in a rickshaw when he fell down and his nose started bleeding. His fellow students immediately took him to the campus hospital where for three hours he was kept. The doctors knew it from the beginning that they didn’t have adequate facilities to treat the poor child and still they took three hours to come up and say they would have to take the patient to Kolkata for treatment. And on the way only he died. He could have survived if they would have immediately taken him to Kolkata. The students got furious about this whole thing and protested against the hospital and the director. The students threw stones at the director’s office as well. Finally the then present dean had to resign and in his place another dean was chosen. But let me tell you he too has a political background so I have heard. Last year a 5th year student named Anshul Gupta had some serious disease, which the doctors there couldn’t detect. And for three whole days he lay in the hospital bed without knowing what disease he was suffering. He is still in the ICU, Ward of Delhi’s Apolo hospital. Recently one of the students,(name withheld) was suffering from stomach pain. So he went to the campus hospital where he was told that he would have to be immediately operated as he had appendix. He got scared and didn’t know what he should do. So he decided to visit another doctor outside the campus area who said that it was a case of mere indigestion and gave him a few medicines, after taking which he got cured of his illness. There are even more such cases. Now that the dean has changed and the hospital facilities are getting changed. Let’s see how much change they can bring. All I can say is that the parents of the IIT, students can not stay tension free or relieved even after getting their children admitted in such a big institute. Something or the other keeps happening there. Anyways let’s hope the medical facilities show a really big change. Here are some of my favourite songs and videos hope you like them. Enjoy!! And don’t forget to write me some comments. I would really love to get your views about my blog.
MY SPECIAL CORNER:-
In the corner of my house’s drawing room are three beautifully carved marble racks on which lies my precious collection of story books. It’s my own special corner, my own small private library with a total of around 150 books. There’s a stool by its side on which you can sit, pick out a book, make yourself comfy and cosy with a cup of tea in your hand maybe, create the atmosphere needed and read your book in peace. [Ah!!!!!! That’s one thing I like.]
You must be curious into knowing what kind of books I am into. So let me tell you I have all kinds of books for all age groups. I have tinkle, Archie’s comics, famous five, secret seven and mystery tales by Enid Blyton. Also I have romantic novels by Nora Roberts, Daniel steel, Jackie Collins, Barbara Taylor Bradford. I even have Chetan Bhagat’s, five point someone, three mistakes of my life. Other books I have are Irving Wallace’s- second lady, Jane Austein’s- Pride and prejudice, Charles Dicken’s- Great expectations, Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle’s- 7 novels of Sherlock holmes and tales of mystery and terror. I also have a recent book series based on a popular television serial featuring Ashley and Marrykate Olsen( 2 hot Malibu stars). There are even more books but if I start mentioning them my day will get over and you will fall asleep just reading their names.
Well anyways. Got you in a mood of reading a story book, didn’t I? I wish I could invite you over and show you my priceless possession so that you could get to enjoy it as much as I do. Anyhow one things true that I am totally and crazily into buying and reading story books.

My onstage performance:-

My brother studies in IIT, Kharagpur. He’s in his second year right now. He was
elected as spring fest organiser. So as an organiser he knew about the different events that would take place in it. And he told me about it. When I heard about the karaoke competition I asked him if I could take part in it. He said yes!! I got very excited and asked my dad if I could take part in it, he too agreed. There was no end to my happiness that day. I had always dreamed of going on stage. My brother described the rules to me. And told me that I will have to bring a cd with the song I choose, with its vocals removed.
As I had never sung anywhere before in my life, I thought of under going a little bit of vocal training. And for that it was essential to find a singing teacher. My brother contacted his friends to find out if there was any one who would be interested to teach me. I finally found a teacher. After this whole thing my brother came to me and said that he doesn’t think that I would be able to go up stage and sing, since I am very reserved. When I get nervous seeing new faces then how will I go up on stage and sing. Hearing this I started crying. For about two to three hours I didn’t talk to any one. All I did was cry, cry, and cry a bit more. Finally my brother said that if I learn to sing better with confidence within two months then I should surely go ahead. I agreed. My tutor told me that I shouldn’t rush and that my class will start after a few days since she was busy. After a few days I called her up and told her that I would be going to puri with my family, and since it meant that my class would have to be postponed by another week, would it be possible for me to learn with in 5 weeks. She assured me that there would be no problem as such, so I enjoyed my stay at puri fully relaxed. When I came back my teacher said she has to go to bangalore for some show, so I would have to wait until she comes back. She told me that she would contact me as soon as she would be finished with the show and back to Kolkata. She contacted me 30 days before my fest and told me that she is still not free but is back to Kolkata and will adjust my timing.
My first day of learning singing was not that much of good, as I was nervous. But she told me that I had a good voice and I should keep practising the song and the 7 notes she gave me. I did exactly the same. Next day I choose a song which I decided to sing in the fest it was genie in a bottle originally sung by Christina augleria. My mom kept on insisting me to quit the thought of singing in the fest. She told me that I had a good voice which I should improve before going on stage and for that time and practise is needed. But I stuck to my decision and gave it my best shot with lots and lots of practise each day. As the day neared my dad asked me who would take me to Kharagpur and who would bring me back.
In the end my mom and dad agreed to take me to Kharagpur. I was very happy and excited. I was advised by my friends and teacher to give my vocal cords a little rest before the competition. I did exactly as they had said. We were going by our car. And you won’t believe what happened my dad had forgotten to refill the car with petrol so we had to get it filled up. Let me tell you that I am very much allergic to the smell of petrol and since we had to stop by a petrol station I had to smell the horrible smell which I am allergic to. After this through out the way I went on vomiting. And my head started paining and I felt sick. My condition was a bit better when we reached Kharagpur. The whole of IIT campus seemed to be alive with excited people. It was then when I felt a sort of chill run inside my stomach. But I didn’t let anyone see how tensed I had gotten seeing so many people around. we were informed that the judges hadn’t arrived yet which is why the competition will be delayed by a few hours. Hearing this I felt a little relaxed. And as the competition was delayed we decided to have lunch. I tried to gulp down some food but I was still feeling sick and couldn’t. After this I got my participant card and I was told that I was 11th. But then when I didn’t hear my name being called even after at least 12 performers I got tensed, later on I got to know that as I had got the song track in a pen drive I will have to wait and those participants who have gotten there song in a cd will get to go first. My dad got angry and said we will have to leave by four at least, as it would get dark and impossible to drive in the highway. And then a very strange thing happened, all the non participants were told to move out of the auditorium. My dad got very angry and told me that we should be leaving now, we cannot wait any longer as it had already started to get dark. My mood was turned down, and my dad tried to cheer me up even saying sorry. But I didn’t listen to anyone I kept on crying and saying that I have a bad luck I will never be able to do anything and all the time things keep on happening to me. We were outside the campus and half way out of Kharagpur when I was still crying and something came out of my mouth that shouldn’t have come out. I said even now I am thinking maybe just maybe you guys will take me back but no why should I think like that because you don’t want me to sing or get on stage. Then my dad told our driver to stop the car and take a U turn. Then I said sorry and said that you don’t have to. But my dad didn’t listen to me. Then he told me very calmly that I should go ahead and give my best shot and that they will be waiting for me outside. I tried to get inside the auditorium but the guard stopped me as some big singer was coming to IIT, for which the security was tight. And as I didn’t have my participation card he didn’t let me in. then I called my brother who told the guard that I was a participant and he will have to take me in. I got in, rubbed away the tears from my face, and hurried inside the auditorium. After two people my name was called and I got up on stage with full confidence and started singing. But in between I looked up at the audience and got the chill which is why I messed up two lines but after this I pulled myself together and gave it my full shot. After I ended and started to walk back to my seat among the audience, the audience started to clap and applaud. Though I was not awarded with any trophy which I knew I wouldn’t be but I got the most precious award of all, it was confidence and a sort of satisfaction to have fulfilled my dream. After my performance we slowly drove back home. My family members wished they could hear me sing but any how at least in the end every thing was fine.

Hectic days:-
I am a third year b.com student studying under Kolkata University. But trust me I wish I would have studied under Delhi University or any other University. Since the first year I have given a good effort in my studies but with no avail. The results always shock me. When I am expecting a 60 I get a mere 40. And when I am expecting 75 to 80 I get near about 50 to 55. Even when I know I have given my paper good I will still get an average. I had given my I.S.C. and I.C.S.E. under Delhi University and I got about 75% in both cases only due to my economics and maths my overall %age dropped to 75% other wise I would have got even a higher %age. I don’t understand why under Kolkata University the answer sheet checkers get paid less. This might be a very good reason why those people who check the paper don’t bother much about students. They say that Kolkata University has a high standard that’s why our papers are so strictly checked. It might be the case but whatever it is it really does turn us student’s enthusiasm, morale and every other thing down. And being a student I can tell you that general papers are much worst checked then honours.
Well anyhow exams are approaching right now. Honours exams will start from 21st April and for general, exams will be starting from 21st may. So once again the hectic days have begun with nothing but studying and more studying. The more I know I have to and should study the more I feel the urge to ignore the whole studying business. But in the end you have to study either with a sad face or a smile on your face. So ultimately there is no choice. So guys and girls I guess your exams must be near too, so study hard and best of luck. Hope we all survive in the end.
